About Us
Nick McCabe
Owner & Program Coordinator
An educator in the public system for 15 years, Nick always felt like there was something *more* out there! He left the school behind and is a very happy human among the trees and birds doing what he loves best – helping kids learn about nature and themselves.
Lily Thompson
Program Facilitator
Raised here on this very mountain, Lily brings a wealth of knowledge of the natural world. She is a skilled forager, mushroom enthusiast and is passionate about the beauty and bounty of the land surrounding us. A past career in nursing and years of volunteering with therapeutic riding and other community programs highlight Lily’s kind and compassionate nature.
Allison McCabe
Owner & Administrator
Allison stepped away from a career in teaching to become a full time mom many years ago. Homeschooling her own 6 children and running the administrative side of Campbellcroft keeps her busy. She loves to spend time with the kids who attend our programs and can often be found teaching finger-knitting in a sunny spot.
Amos Shelley
Art Teacher
It’s my passion to preserve childhood through the arts. By telling good stories. Inciting imagination towards meaning. Holding onto what’s good and precious and playful.
As an artist I am but a humble facilitator. A director of light and curator of colour. Carefully crafting worlds to explore. Creating spaces filled with characters and feeling, stories and tension. And my hope is simple: preserve childhood for kids (of all ages).

“A child has no stronger desire than to make sense of the world, to move freely in it, to do the things that he sees bigger people doing. Children learn from anything and everything they see. They learn wherever they are, not just in special learning places.”
-John Holt, “How Children Learn”
