We are Allison and Nick McCabe. We are parents to six wondrous children. We are homesteaders. We are homeschoolers. We are fairly new to Nova Scotia but are so enjoying our experience and the amazing people we keep meeting.
We moved to Campbell Hill from our homestead in rural eastern Ontario in the summer of 2022 after making a decision as a family to take a bit of a risk and try a grand new adventure. Nick was an educator in Ontario for 15 years. He taught every grade from primary to grade eight, but with a focus on the junior division (grades 4-6). Allison, also an Ontario certified teacher, has, since the birth of our first child, focused her energies on mothering, homesteading and home-schooling our growing family.
We are a family that places the home or the household as the foundation of everything we do. The hustle and bustle of today’s modern society clearly isn’t working for many families: the frenetic before and after school rush; sports on the weekends; the-two-day-weekend-to-get-everything-done; the over-scheduled life; our conveyor belt education system etc.
Together, we have been dreaming of a place where families, like ours, can send their children for a slower, more meaningful and authentic education. It is our hope that you will see the value in this and join us here at Campbellcroft!
